Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date
  • Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation, verification of qualifications, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, and any other job-related requirement before or after appointment
  • Applicants must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
  • Must have a current, valid U.S. issued medical license
  • Successful completion of the requirements for Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent, from a school in the United States or Canada, or a foreign medical school with substantially equivalent education demonstrated by permanent certification by the ECFMG, or a Fifth Pathway certificate
  • Successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination
  • Active, current, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
  • At least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (internship or first year of residency program)
  • For GP-14 level, at least four years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled, or four years of equivalent experience and training

Responsibilities

  • This role involves administering clinical, basic, and independent research programs, analyzing and evaluating scientific and clinical data, and conceptualizing new research directions
  • The Physician will contribute to significant medical advancements within a leading federal research institution
  • Administer clinical and basic research projects
  • Plan, organize, and direct research programs involving direct patient care using applied and/or basic research
  • Review, analyze, and investigate clinical trials, protocols, and the treatment of patients
  • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret scientific and clinical data to prepare papers for publication and presentation
  • Conceptualize new research direction and projects
  • Create drug development plans, including Phase I, II, and III clinical trials
  • Keep abreast of scientific and clinical developments through review of literature and attending professional meetings, conferences, and symposia
