Job Description

s the Unit Medical Director, you’ll serve as the clinical leader and Unit Health Authority, overseeing healthcare delivery for an inmate population while ensuring care is timely, accessible, and compliant with all regulatory standards.

You will:
• Provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services to patients
• Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of physicians, PAs, and NPs
• Ensure care aligns with TTUHSC, TDCJ, and NCCHC standards
• Coordinate and optimize healthcare delivery across the facility
• Exercise independent clinical judgment with support from the Regional Medical Director
• Champion quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence

Leadership & Impact
• Directly supervise, mentor, and develop clinical staff
• Drive hiring, training, performance management, and team development
• Collaborate with TTUHSC faculty and interdisciplinary teams
• Address complex clinical and operational challenges in a dynamic environment

Clinical Responsibilities
• Conduct patient evaluations, sick call, and clinic visits
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate specialty referrals
• Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation
• Provide oversight and delegation to advanced practice providers
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours care
