Job Description

Hope Center for Autism is seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality, evidence-based speech and language services to students with autism and related disabilities. This role includes both direct service delivery and supervision of Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs).

The SLP will play a critical role in assessing student needs, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, supporting augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The supervising SLP will also ensure that SLPAs are effectively trained, supported, and providing services in alignment with student IEPs and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Student Services
• Conduct speech and language evaluations and write comprehensive reports
• Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with student needs
• Provide direct therapy services (individual and small group)
• Support development of functional communication, social language, and AAC systems
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to generalize communication skills across settings

Supervision of SLPAs
• Provide direct supervision in accordance with state and ASHA guidelines
• Train SLPAs in therapy techniques, data collection, and use of AAC/visual supports
• Review and co-sign documentation completed by SLPAs
• Monitor fidelity of services and ensure alignment with IEP goals
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional support

Collaboration & Compliance
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary planning
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with school, district, and state requirements
• Collaborate with occupational therapists, behavior analysts, teachers, and families
• Support staff training related to communication strategies and AAC implementation

Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Current Florida SLP license
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred or required
• Experience working with students with autism and/or developmental disabilities
• Experience supervising or mentoring SLPAs preferred
• Knowledge of AAC systems, visual supports, and evidence-based practices
• Strong leadership, organization, and collaboration skills

Physical Requirements
• Ability to move throughout classrooms and therapy spaces
• Ability to sit on the floor, engage with students, and model communication strategies
• Ability to respond to student needs, including behavior support situations
