Position Overview

The Summer School Special Education Teacher is responsible for full program operations, including individualized academic instruction, behavior management, curriculum implementation, and supervision of classroom support staff. Instruction must align with district standards and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction guidelines.

Qualifications
• Wisconsin Teaching License (Cross-Categorical or Emotional/Behavioral Disorders required)
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with special educational students
• Strong knowledge of the special education process (IEPs, evaluations, referrals)
• Experience implementing positive, proactive behavior management strategies
• Demonstrated classroom leadership and ability to direct support staff
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and/or trauma-informed practices (or willingness to learn)

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver individualized, standards-based instruction
• Develop and implement positive behavior support plans
• Oversee curriculum development and classroom programming
• Conduct evaluations and prepare progress reports
• Collect daily data and maintain student documentation
• Supervise and guide classroom specialists
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with families and community partners
• Respond effectively to crisis situations
• Maintain confidentiality and professional documentation

Physical Requirements
• Frequent physical interaction with students
• Ability to safely perform physical interventions when necessary to maintain safety
• Capability to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively

  • Seasonal Full-Time June 8th - August 12th
  • Mon-Fri 9am to 3pm
