n diagnosing and treating patients, creating treatment strategies, and guiding the interdisciplinary team in executing the patient care plan.
Essential Job Function:
• Education and training involve using written works and participating in local and national gatherings to stay up-to-date and proficient in one's profession.
• Engages in educational initiatives designed for inpatients, staff members, and professionals.
• Engages in educational and research initiatives such as didactic content, formal teaching sessions, clinical instruction, staff education talks, and clinical investigations.
• Liaison: Engages in liaison responsibilities with fellow professional colleagues and aids in establishing connections with sources for patient referrals.
• Continuously updates referring doctors on patient care progress and results.
• They deliver hands-on and indirect care to patients in designated sections.
• Oversees the interdisciplinary team and provides medical guidance while also supervising residents and medical students in fulfilling their responsibilities.
• Engages in clinical studies that are of particular interest.
• Ensures precise and prompt documentation and approval of care to maintain current medical records for billing reasons.
• Maintains the professional standards of MCHS by adhering to the regulations outlined in the Medical Staff By-Laws and Service Excellence commitments, as well as following practice standards and physician expectations while upholding a professional image.
• Aligns actions with the goals and principles of the MCHS Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
• Shows cooperative and courteous interactions with coworkers, clients, peers, relatives, and guests.
• Adheres to the principles of the Socratic Oath, maintains patient privacy, and demonstrates ethical behavior consistently.
• Operates cohesively and aids in the accomplishment of the objectives and criteria set by MCHS.
• Quality and Safety: Engages in medical audits, quality enhancement initiatives, investigations, peer evaluations, and other assessments concerning professional care standards when necessary.
• Offers medical guidance and direction tthe interdisciplinary group in order tmaximize the effectiveness for every patient.
• Maintains safe operational practices and adheres to regulatory guidelines.
• Quality Improvement involves consistently enhancing and implementing evidence-based strategies to achieve top-notch healthcare and services, aiming for outcomes that are in the 90th percentile or higher.
• Adhere to the guidelines set by MCHS, as well as relevant laws and regulations, when managing documentation.
• Engages in the creation of clinical guidelines, protocols, initiatives, and suggests enhancements to boost the standard and effectiveness of healthcare delivery.
• Shares particular on-call duties with other physicians in the designated areas.
Experience
• Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).
Licensure/Certification/Listing
REQUIRED:
Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty). Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC. Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges. The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions. Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
