Job Description:
We are seeking two full-time (35 to 40 hours on average weekly) Medical Assistants/Gap Year Students to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our allergy clinic with food and medication challenges, patient care, administrative duties, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic.
The clinic is open Monday and Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00/4:30 pm
Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00 am to 6:00/6:30 pm
This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates taking gap year(s), providing meaningful, hands-on experience in a clinic that has been innovating in food allergy care for over a decade.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in conducting food/medication challenges and oral immunotherapy treatments.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions.
• Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history, vital signs, and documenting in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Prepare and administer allergy tests, skin prick tests, and pulmonary function tests under physician supervision.
• Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and provide patient education on treatment plans.
• Assist in performing office-based procedures related to allergy and immunology care.
• Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
• Handle patient inquiries, schedule appointments, and manage prior authorizations for medications and treatments.
• Ensure compliance with clinic policies, infection control procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
• Manage medical inventory, sterilize equipment, and maintain exam rooms.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care.
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems (eClinicalworks use is a plus).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Very strong attention to detail.
