Special Education Assistant – Intensive Autism, Greeley West High School (2026-2027 School Year)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary: $19.88 per hour plus benefits (up to $30.86 per hour for internal transfers and recent rehires)
Contract Length/Days: (2026-2027 / 180 days)

Education / Experience
• Required: AA degree or 48 semester hours or passing scores on WorkKeys exam
• Preferred: CPI training (training provided); CPR/First Aid (training provided)
Job Description
Summary / Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.
Essential Job Functions
• Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
• Provide student‑specific personal care and support.
• Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and support staff as needed.
• Sit for long periods in a busy environment, handle distractions, and maintain visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity.
• Move quickly between positions in response to student needs and possess upper body strength sufficient to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Additional Qualifications
Applicant must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the position’s functions. Prior experience in a school setting or with children with special needs is required. Strong verbal communication, teamwork orientation, positive attitude, and upper body strength for lifting 50 lbs are essential. Paraprofessional experience is preferred. Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
