Job Description

Diagnosis, attends departmental retreat on faculty development and teaching, advises/counsels one Emergency Medicine house officer/ year as well as medical student as requested.

Quality:

Integrates the mission statement of LSUHSC-S into teaching practice, teaching quality assessed satisfactory based on student evaluations or other evidence (letters, etc) and peer evaluation, course materials updated regularly, where appropriate, variety of teaching methodologies explored & used in classes, demonstrates enthusiasm for EM, uses evidence-based medicine in clinical teaching and mentoring, available to advisees, begins to explore application of scholarly research to improve teaching & instruction.

RESEARCH SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY

Quantity:

Has completed board certification in Emergency Medicine and attends one conference/year in specialty area.

Quality:

Supports departmental/university research by being aware of research protocols, enrolling patients in studies and providing investigator feedback on all aspects of research protocol.

SERVICE

Quantity:

Attends 70% of general department, school & general faculty meetings, contributes service to the department and university through clinical service (14 clinical shifts/ month) and contributes to at least one department, university or community committee.

Quality:

Collegiality is faithful in committee attendance and other commitments and mentors students and house-staff in clinical or community service activities.

Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. The work hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

Qualifications

The applicant must meet the following:
• Must be an MD or DO, have any unrestricted Louisiana medical license.
• Board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes 6-8 lectures to Emergency Medicine Grand Rounds/ year, contributes to LSUHSC medical school curriculum by participating in 2 of the following courses: Integrative Processes, Clinical Toxicology course, ACLS or Physical Diagnosis, attends departmental retreat on faculty development and teaching, advises/counsels one Emergency Medicine house officer/ year as well as medical student as requested
