Job Description

Overview

Developmental & Behavioral Specialists (DBS) is excited to offer Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) pursuing their bachelor's or master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) by offering a range of opportunities to accrue supervised fieldwork hours toward their certification. This is a full-time position that requires that students be available to work 1:1 with clients in addition to fieldwork activities.

The Student Analyst Program at DBS is designed to complement students’ academic coursework by providing meaningful, real-world experience in applied behavior analysis. While comprehensive instruction in behavior-analytic theory and all sections of the BCBA Task List is provided through the student's bachelor’s or master’s program, DBS focuses specifically on helping students gain hands-on experience with key areas of practical application. The Student Analyst Program prioritizes Section II of the BCBA Handbook. Through direct mentorship and guided participation, student analysts are given ample opportunities to engage in fieldwork under the supervision of a qualified BCBA. This includes exposure to and experience with:
• Conducting initial assessments and completing BIP re-assessments
• Conducting preference assessments
• Collecting and interpreting baseline data
• Supporting functional behavior assessments (FBAs)
• Participating in skill assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, Vineland, etc.)
• Assisting in the identification and definition of target behaviors
• Contributing to behavior intervention planning based on assessment data

Eligibility Requirements for Fieldwork Participation

To be considered for fieldwork opportunities at DBS, individuals must meet the following criteria:

- RBT Certification: Must hold current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician.

- Employment Tenure: Must be employed at DBS, either part-time or full-time, for a minimum of 30 days.

- Enrollment in an Accredited Program: Must be actively enrolled in an ABAI-accredited degree program. Students may not begin accruing hours until coursework has officially started.

- Commitment to Responsibilities: Must demonstrate the ability to complete fieldwork tasks in a timely manner, including assignments that may need to be completed outside of DBS business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM).

- Leadership and Professional Conduct: Must consistently model professionalism for other RBTs and Behavior Technicians. This includes:
• Punctuality and reliability
• Adherence to BACB ethical guidelines
• Ability to accept and provide both positive and constructive feedback
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Effective peer training and mentorship
• A positive and proactive attitude
