Job Description
Behavioral Support Technician
Under the direction of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the assigned supervisor, provide individualized applied behavioral and instructional support strategies and techniques; assists instructional personnel in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in an assigned classroom or other learning environment; provide instruction and behavior support for individual or small groups of students; collects and maintains data on student behavior; performs a variety of clerical and supportive tasks for other instructional personnel; attends and participates in student progress meetings.
Registered Behavior Technician Certification or proof of completion of the 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician Training program from a qualified provider within the past 90 days Must pass an Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test with a score of 70% or higher in the areas of Math, Reading and Writing, or provide High School Proficiency verification; Possess a valid California driver license and maintain insurability. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County. Transport students from time to time as required, in a county office vehicle. Participate in random alcohol and controlled substances testing as delineated in Superintendent Policy , , and Administrative Regulation , and . Equivalent to graduation from high school and/or any combination of experience and training to provide the required knowledge and skill. An AA degree, or 2 years equivalence of acceptable college coursework, or successful passage of an acceptable rigorous assessment is highly preferred. Experience with specialized populations with behavior needs ***To obtain certification as a Registered Behavior Technician, the applicant must be 18 years of age, possess a minimum of a high school diploma or national equivalent, complete 40 hours of training, complete a criminal background check, pass the RBT Competency Assessment, and pass the RBT exam. Renewal of certification requires annual passage of RBT Competency Assessment, completion of a renewal, ongoing supervision and compliance with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board's (BCBA) ethics requirements relevant to RBTs.
