Distinguishing Feature: The teacher acts as the "Clinical Lead" of the classroom, coordinating a team of therapists and paraprofessionals to ensure 1:1 and small-group instructional fidelity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Instructional Programming: Design, oversee, and complete special education services and Discrete Trial Training (DTT) sessions tailored to K-5 developmental levels.
• Case Management: Lead the IEP process for a specialized caseload, ensuring all goals are measurable, data-driven, and compliant.
• Staff Coaching & Supervision: Provide daily oversight, training, and active coaching to a team of Paraprofessionals/RBTs to ensure consistent implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
• High-Level Collaboration: Partner daily with the BCBA, SLP, OT, and PT to integrate sensory diets, communication systems (PECS/AAC), and motor goals into the academic day.
• Functional Life Skills: Direct teaching of school-based functional routines (e.g., arrival/departure, toileting, independent play, and cafeteria transitions).
• Community-Based Instruction (CBI): Plan and lead local community outings to generalize social and safety skills in real-world K-5 contexts.
• Curriculum Modification: Adapt the K-5 general education curriculum (Reading/Math/Science) to address students' prerequisite skills and unique learning styles.

Required Qualifications & Credentials

Candidates must meet the following New Hampshire Department of Education (NHDOE) standards:
• NH Certification: Must hold (or be eligible for) NHDOE Endorsement #1900 (General Special Education).
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field (e.g., Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or Communication Disorders).
• Experience: Demonstrated background in K-5 Autism support, including experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and positive behavior supports.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
• Behavioral Expertise: Strong understanding of the functions of behavior and the ability to work alongside a BCBA to implement complex behavior plans.
• Leadership: Ability to manage a "classroom-within-a-school," balancing the needs of high-intensity students with the management of multiple adult support staff.
• Early Literacy/Numeracy: Knowledge of modified literacy instruction (multi-sensory programs).
• Communication: Ability to facilitate communication logs and maintain strong, empathetic partnerships with families.
