Job Description

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
• Manage day-to-day nutrition operations
• Provide individual nutritional counseling to student-athletes
• Develop and design educational materials, present specialized team talks according to team needs
• Perform grocery store tours and cooking demonstrations
• Monitor inventory and nutrition orders while staying within the performance nutrition budget
• Oversee upkeep of fueling station and management of student volunteers
• Monitor team meals aimed to help educate student-athletes on proper choices. Development of training table menus, home and away game meals and snacks
• Conduct team body composition testing and analysis using DXA
• Investigate dietary supplementation for student-athletes and ensure nutritional supplement use policies and procedures are followed
• Research and analyze scientific and lay reports related to nutrition and athletic performance, including nutritional supplements and diets, translating the findings into sound advice for student-athletes, coaches, strength staff, and sports medicine staff
• Attend and participate in sports medicine staff meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Nutrition.
• Adhere to Health System, University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics and NCAA policies and procedures
• Maintain knowledge of Health System departmental activities, team schedules and procedures
• Foster cooperative relationships with fellow staff members within the department
• Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and in working with other staff members
• Exhibit professional decorum at all times.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
• Bachelors Degree in Nutrition or closely related field
• High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
• 2 or more years of experience working with nutritional needs of athletes
Required Licensure and Certification
• Licensed Dietitian - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (KS), Department of Health & Senior Services (MO) - Includes licenses for all other states within 30 Days
• Registered Dietitian (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
Knowledge Requirements
• Strong background in sports nutrition and exercise physiology
