Job Description

f Education is seeking an Education Specialist, Autism Resources to support PK–12 public schools statewide in implementing evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for students with autism spectrum disorder, or autism. This role provides training, consultation, and technical assistance to educators, school teams, and families, strengthening instructional programming, building staff capacity, and supporting inclusive practices that improve outcomes for students with autism.

Key Responsibilities

Training and Professional Learning
• Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities on academic and behavioral instruction for educators serving students with autism
• Deliver in-person and virtual training using research-based adult learning strategies
• Provide training for both special education and general education staff on autism and inclusive practices

Consultation and Technical Assistance
• Provide classroom consultation to educators serving students with an educational classification of autism
• Support instructional planning associated with the implementation of behavioral plans
• Provide performance feedback and coaching to educators and school teams

Family and Team Support
• Provide parent and family training workshops related to autism and evidence-based strategies
• Collaborate with school teams, community partners, and families to support student success

Collaboration and Program Development
• Work with district and charter school teams to identify staff and student needs
• Collaborate with internal Department teams to strengthen statewide supports for students with disabilities
• Collect and analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of professional learning and training

Required Qualifications:

Education

Master's degree required in one of the following areas:
• Applied Behavior Analysis
• Special Education
• Speech-Language Pathology
• Or a closely related field

Experience
• At least three (3) years of demonstrated consultative experience working with students with an educational classification of autism
• Experience providing training and technical assistance to educators or school teams
• Expertise in evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices for individuals with autism in classroom, community, or home-based consultation settings
• Experience supporting educators in implementing instructional programs or behavior interventions

Preferred Qualifications
• Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (BCBA or equivalent)
• Experience providing professional learning or coaching for educators
• Experience using data to guide instructional or behavioral decision-making
• Knowledge of special education systems and individualized education programs (IEPs)

Salary

Salary Range: $84,554.21 - $131,564.14 annually. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's education and experience in accordance with the Department of Education's compensation policy. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the state retirement program, annual, sick, and personal leave, and supplemental benefits options. Direct deposit of payroll checks is a condition of state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
