Illinois recorded 304 providers in the latest CMS NPI registry weekly update, equal to 3% of the national weekly total. The update lists 149 providers new this week and 166 new this year, including 225 individuals and 79 organizations. That share signals a substantial presence in the national registry, but NPI activity is not a count of confirmed hires, active staff, caseloads or available appointments.

ABA credential mix

The credential summary lists 19 BCBAs and 51 RBTs, plus one provider with both credentials. These counts overlap: the dual-credential provider is included in the credential categories, so the figures are not mutually exclusive. The RBT count is nearly three times the BCBA count. That points to a larger technician pool than supervisory pool; RBT growth can expand direct-service capacity, but BCBAs remain essential to supervision and clinical oversight. The registry’s credential-text field reports a different count, including three RBT entries, so it should not be combined with the summary as a separate workforce group.

Demographics and organizations

Among individual providers, 185 are listed as female (82%), 30 as male (13%) and 10 as nonbinary (4%). The percentages total 99% because of rounding. Carey Counseling and Everside Health, LLC each appear twice in the notable-organization list. Multiple appearances may reflect separate records, not necessarily distinct employers or newly opened sites. Chicago, Rockford, Westmont, Schaumburg and Evanston are the leading listed cities.

Illinois’s update shows a sizeable RBT presence but a smaller BCBA pool, suggesting that supervisory capacity may remain a key constraint on expanding ABA access.
