Louisiana's behavioral health sector saw 81 providers added in the latest national registry update, accounting for 1% of the weekly total. This cohort includes 67 individuals and 14 organizations. The recent activity is notable, with 36 providers joining this week, making up the bulk of the 42 new providers added so far this year.

ABA Workforce Composition

Within applied behavior analysis, the update captured 11 RBTs but only 1 BCBA. This 11-to-1 ratio of technicians to supervisors is high, indicating a potential strain on clinical supervision capacity as the frontline workforce grows. The data also included one BCaBA. These ABA-specific roles were part of a diverse group of professionals that also included 5 LPCs and several social workers, reflecting a broad range of behavioral health services.

Provider Demographics

Among individual providers, women continue to dominate the field, with 53 female providers making up 79% of the group. The data also showed that 22 providers registered with multiple taxonomies, suggesting many practitioners hold dual licenses or varied roles. No single large multi-state employer stood out in this week's update, with registrations spread across various individual and organizational providers in cities like New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette.

This influx of RBTs suggests Louisiana's direct service capacity for ABA is growing, but it also highlights a critical need to expand the state's pipeline of supervising BCBAs to support this growth.
