Minnesota added 89 behavioral health providers in the latest CMS NPI registry weekly update, representing 2% of the national total. This consistent influx signals a steady demand for behavioral health services across the state, contributing to its overall workforce capacity.

ABA Workforce Composition

Within the applied behavior analysis sector, the update includes 47 Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and 2 Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Notably, there were no individuals with dual BCBA and RBT credentials this week. The significant ratio of RBTs to BCBAs, at over 23:1, suggests a robust pipeline of direct service providers but also highlights a potential need for more BCBAs to ensure adequate supervision capacity for quality ABA service delivery. Beyond ABA, the new providers also include other behavioral health professionals such as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSWs), and Speech-Language Pathologists.

Provider Demographics

Among the 84 individual providers, 55 female individuals were listed, alongside 12 male (14%) and 17 nonbinary (20%) providers. The registry also listed 5 new organizations, though no specific entity appeared multiple times in this week's data.

The strong growth in RBTs indicates an expanding capacity for direct ABA service delivery in Minnesota, but the disparity in BCBA additions suggests ongoing challenges in scaling supervision for this growing workforce.
