The San Fernando Valley registered 65 behavioral health providers in the latest CMS update, representing 1% of the national total. This group is composed of 56 individuals and 9 organizations. A significant surge in activity is evident, with 44 providers newly registered this week, bringing the year-to-date total of new providers to 50.

ABA Workforce Mix

The provider data shows a workforce heavily weighted toward direct-care staff, identifying 31 Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and 13 Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) based on their primary taxonomy. This creates a ratio of roughly 2.4 RBTs for every BCBA, a structure that supports the supervisory model essential for ABA service delivery. It is important to note that these counts are based on taxonomy and may overlap, as 10 providers in the area are registered with multiple classifications.

Demographics and Distribution

Among individual practitioners, women make up the majority at 63%, while men account for 30% and nonbinary providers represent 7% of the workforce. Provider activity is concentrated in key hubs within the valley, with Van Nuys leading at 18 providers, followed by Encino with 13 and Sherman Oaks with 9.

This recent influx, dominated by new RBTs, points to a rapid expansion of direct-care ABA capacity across the San Fernando Valley.
