The South Bay LA region saw 32 behavioral health providers appear in the latest national registry update, with 21 providers newly registered this week. This group consists of 31 individual practitioners and 1 organization, indicating a significant influx of new workforce participants in the area.
Credential Breakdown
The new data shows a workforce heavily weighted toward frontline technicians, with 22 Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and 4 Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). This creates a supervision ratio of more than five RBTs for every one BCBA. The update also includes providers with other credentials, such as 2 Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), and data indicates 2 providers are registered under multiple taxonomies.
Workforce Demographics
Among individual providers, women make up the majority, with 21 female providers (68%). The remainder includes 6 male providers (19%) and 4 nonbinary providers (13%). Provider activity is concentrated in a few key cities, with Gardena (13 providers), Torrance (9 providers), and El Segundo (8 providers) leading the region. This recent surge, dominated by new RBTs, points to an expansion of direct service capacity within ABA clinics across the South Bay.
