Chief purpose of this position: To provide Electrophysiology clinical care along with supporting the academic mission in research and education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching: To support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, Housestaff and non-physician professionals. Periodically will be expected to present appropriate reviews in patient management discussions at Cardiology and Department of Internal Medicine conferences. In addition, will be expected to participate in University Continuing Medical Education programs for practicing physicians.

Research: To support clinical research protocols in electrophysiology.

Service: Will be expected to work in the Electrophysiology Labs, rotate through the inpatient and outpatient settings; will participate in the care of critically ill patients in the ICU setting.

Clinical: Electrophysiology procedures with skills in all clinical aspects of cardiac electrophysiology, including electrophysiologic study and catheter ablation, pacemaker and ICD implantation, including biventricular devices. Expected to participate in expanding clinical and investigative Electrophysiology. Will provide cross coverage in outreach sites. Duties will include limited attending in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit and/or General Cardiology Inpatient Service and Consult Service; will provide emergency coverage on a rotating call basis; will also have clinic accessibility.

Other: Submit billing and document care as required by the organization. Abide by all medical staff requirements. Participate in quality initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
• BC/BE cardiologist with demonstrated skills in the areas of Electrophysiology
• Clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment
• Communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program
• Participate in teaching and Fellowship programs
• Eligible for medical licensure in State of Virginia.
