Job Description
The position of behavior staff will be to take part in working with and teaching children with autism as part of a team. The individuals who are chosen to work as a behavior intervention staff will be trained by ABSI's Behavior consultants and Behavior Specialists. All employees will be trained in the basics of Applied Behavior Analysis, specifically a teaching technique called Discrete Trial Training and Natural Environment Training. The training will also include information on how to implement other teaching methodologies that have proven to be helpful with children with autism. The objective of the behavior staff is to foster the child's independence across settings and promote success.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Conduct structured teaching in the family's home and/or school environment
Implement changes made to the child's home program/school programs and ensure that data is taken daily on each program/goal taught
Driving to and from sessions as scheduled
Show to sessions timely
Conduct excellence and professionalism
Requirements:
Experience working with children in some capacity OR enrolled and actively pursuing a degree in a relative field.
A team player who can adapt quickly, stay on task and problem solve
Excellent and professional verbal communication skills
Proficiency with technology including but not exclusive to the utilization of tablets and the use of electronic applications.
Reliable transportation
Standing- Frequently
Walking- Frequently
Running/Sprinting- Occasionally
Squatting, stooping, kneeling- Occasionally
Lifting up to 50 pounds- Occasionally
Respond to and support client crises- At all times
Provide CPR (once trained)- At all times
