Level 2 interns work with increased independence compared to Level 1 interns, while still receiving close supervision from a certified BCBA. This position includes hands-on work in school districts and clinic settings, with a strong focus on coaching staff, implementing behavior interventions, and supporting student outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

School District Coaching & Collaboration
• Provide on-site coaching and modeling to school-based staff (e.g., teachers, paraprofessionals, aides, RBTs) under BCBA supervision
• Collaborate with district teams to support students with challenging behaviors across classrooms and school environments
• Assist in developing and implementing behavior support strategies that align with IEP goals and classroom expectations
• Support data collection systems within school settings to ensure fidelity and consistency
• Participate in team meetings, problem-solving discussions, and parent/school communication as appropriate

Behavior Interventions & Clinical Support
• Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) under supervision
• Conduct indirect and direct assessments (e.g., ABC data, record reviews, observations)
• Support intervention adjustments based on data trends and team feedback
• Model evidence-based ABA strategies including:
• Proactive behavior supports
• Skill acquisition interventions
• De-escalation and response strategies
• Ensure ethical and professional implementation of all interventions

Supervision, Training & Professional Development
• Receive supervision and mentorship from a supervising BCBA in accordance with BACB requirements
• Assist with training RBTs and school staff on behavior protocols and intervention strategies
• Participate in case reviews, supervision meetings, and professional development activities
• Demonstrate growth in clinical reasoning, data analysis, and treatment integrity

Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and data
• Support progress monitoring and reporting for school and clinic cases
• Ensure compliance with district policies, agency procedures, and ethical standards
• Track and submit supervised fieldwork hours as required

Qualifications

Required
• Enrollment in a graduate program in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field
• Actively accruing supervised fieldwork hours toward BCBA certification
• Completion of foundational ABA coursework
• Experience working with children with autism and/or developmental disabilities
• Strong communication, collaboration, and professionalism skills

Preferred
• Prior experience in school-based settings
• Experience coaching paraprofessionals or instructional staff
• Familiarity with IEPs, school teams, and classroom-based behavior support
• RBT certification (preferred but not required)

This position is designed to prepare interns for BCBA-level responsibilities. Successful Level 2 interns demonstrate readiness for increased independence, leadership, and clinical oversight and may be eligible for advancement into higher internship levels or BCBA roles upon certification.
