Qualifications

  • Grade: 19
  • Power/drive train system inspection, diagnosis and repair procedures
  • Repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, electronic and automotive/heavy construction equipment
  • Repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or hydraulic systems in a wide variety of automotive/light/heavy construction equipment
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Utilize a PC and PC programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull 90 lbs; pass a physical exam
  • One year of experience diagnosing and repairing a variety of Light or Construction Equipment with a degree or certification from an
  • automotive vocational school or two years of experience diagnosing and repairing a variety of Light or Construction Equipment
  • Position requires possession of valid driver's license during the period of employment
  • EPA Section 609 Certification or the ability to obtain the certification within six months of employment
  • This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply
  • Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
  • The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended
  • Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training
  • An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11)
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of machinery and equipment including automotive, light equipment and/or heavy duty equipment
  • Performs repairs in accordance with accepted automotive service/repair industry standards and agency policy
  • Inspects a variety of vehicles/equipment, to identify repairs and adjustments necessary for safe operation
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance services, including lube and oil change, tire repair and mounting, and minor repairs/adjustments
  • Interpreting manufacturer specifications
  • Electrical systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures
  • Electronic control systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures
  • Computerized diagnostic analyzer use procedures and practices
  • Hydraulic systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures
  • Operating principles of gasoline and diesel powered internal combustion engines
  • Fleet maintenance shop safety principles and practices
  • Record keeping principles and practices
  • Operating computerized diagnostic analyzer equipment
  • Estimating time cost of repair maintenance work for a wide variety of automotive/heavy construction equipment
  • Scheduling/coordinating automotive/heavy construction equipment service and repair to maximize utilization
  • Interpret repair manuals, service bulletins and recall bulletins
  • Manage time effectively
  • Diagnose issues quickly and accurately, and determine the best course of action to fix them
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently, especially in high-demand environments where equipment downtime needs to be minimized
