Recreational Therapist / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
We are searching for Recreational Therapists to work in a hybrid RBT role and who are passionate about play based learning and socialization to inspire feelings of belonging and inclusion for autistic children and families with children who have autism.
Identify, provide and create opportunity for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and other Behavior Therapists to provide high quality services. Feel comfortable with frequent parent observation sessions.
Responsibilities
• Administer recreation based interventions such as sports, games, dance, drama, arts, and crafts in order to address the needs of clients to improve physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning.
• Coordinate with community agencies for the purposes of enriching client and family learning and community integration.
• Plan and facilitate community and parent activities
• Design activities which support all aspects of a client’s therapy plan as it integrates with the multidisciplinary team.
• Organizes age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for the purposes of ensuring client participation in learning activities.
• Manages client behavior respecting bodily autonomy for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning and play environment.
• Conduct quality 1:1 and group ABA therapy to clients in a clinic-based and/or community- based setting.
• Implement ABA treatment programs as written by the Clinical Supervisor.
• Collect data to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the individualized treatment plan utilizing data collection software.
• Provide hands-on, direct care while following the principles of ABA.
• Work collaboratively with intradisciplinary team including, OT, Speech, and Physical Therapists.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, confidentiality and mandated reporting standards as set by Children With Opportunity.
• Maintain appropriate social distancing, safety, and enhanced protective hygiene practices both on and off the job. (We provide PPE, caregiver communication tools and practices, and limit exposure through small work groups.)
• Communicate clearly and effectively - both orally and written - with clients, families, and colleagues.
• Provide regular written and verbal progress on treatment goals.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops to acquire further knowledge.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $20.00 - $22.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
