• This position participates in and assists the Department Chair and colleagues in the development and implementation of curricula which integrates the medical specialties in team-based, large and small group learning environments.
• Primary teaching assignments include clinical skills and decision making, and topics relevant to the practice of family and internal medicine.
• Typical responsibilities for this position include the following:
• Teaching course material throughout the four-year DO curriculum, which may include assignments in the classroom setting, teaching laboratories, and at clinical sites.
• Teaching assignments in medical simulations include standardized patients (SPs), robotic simulations, and telemedicine education
• Supervising or teaching in third or fourth-year student clinical rotations
• Research or other scholarly activities
• COM or University service
• Clinical practice
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Continuously prepares and teaches assigned courses
• Continuously participates in admissions activities
• Student advisement/office hours
• Participates in Commencement and White Coat ceremonies
• Developing course syllabi
• Administration of examinations
• Participation in committee(s) as assigned
• Engagement in research/scholarly activity
• Continued professional development
• Clinical practice as appropriate
• Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
• Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Professional degree (D.O., M.D.) from an accredited institution of higher education
• Completion of an internal medicine residency; currently board eligible or board certified by AOBIM/ABIM. (Candidates who have completed subspecialty training in a recognized subspecialty and currently BE/BC by appropriate specialty board(s) will also be seriously considered.)
• Licensure in the state of Washington
• Current DEA certification
• Eligibility for local hospital appointment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A team player who values collaboration, mutual support and team cohesion
• Knowledge of instructional technologies
• Experience with curricular and instructional design, and training or experience in educational theory and/or evaluation
• Experience using innovative teaching methods which might include team-based learning, “flipped classroom”, problem-based learning, distance learning, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems, curriculum delivery systems (e.g., Moodle), and proficiency with exam item writing in the style of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX).
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Familiarity with point of care ultrasound
• Prior teaching experience in academic setting
• Possess exceptional credentials in scholarly, professional and/or individual achievement
• Extensive professional experience with an exemplary record for achievement
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
• Strong organization, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances
• Ability to solve problems by analyzing issues and creating action plans
• Ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct workflow
• Ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases.

• Assistant Professor: $158,300 to $266,000
• Associate Professor: $182,100 to $305,900
• Professor: $209,400 to 351,800

Responsibilities
- •Assistant/Associate Professor position with assigned teaching, scholarly activity, service, and clinical practice responsibilities as a faculty member in the department
- •Report to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine
- •The faculty member is in a non-tenured position with a focus on teaching in the College of Osteopathic Medicine program, as well as in postdoctoral (GME) training programs as appropriate
