Job Description

Spindle is partnering with a collaborative school district in Oakland, CA to bring on dedicated Special Education Teachers for the 2026/2027 school year. These are highly supported classroom opportunities with small to medium caseloads, strong paraprofessional support, and evidence-based instructional resources already in place.
Special Education Teacher Job Description:
Elementary Extensive Support Needs (ESN) Classroom – Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
• Provide specialized academic instruction to students with Moderate/Severe disabilities in an Autism-specific elementary classroom.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique strengths and needs.
• Utilize TeachTown and TEACCH instructional materials to deliver structured, individualized learning experiences.
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Foster communication, independence, functional skill development, and positive behavioral outcomes in a structured classroom environment.
• Maintain compliance with IEP documentation, progress monitoring, and all special education requirements.

• Location: Oakland, CA
• School Year: 8/10/2026 – 5/27/2027
• Schedule: Full-Time
• Hours: 6.5 hours per day with a 30-minute lunch (35 hours/week)
• Grade Levels: Kindergarten–2nd Grade
• Caseload: Autism-specific Moderate/Severe classroom
• Maximum of 10 students per classroom
• Two paraprofessionals assigned to each classroom
• Two openings available
Requirements:
• Active California Moderate/Severe (ESN) Education Specialist Credential required
• Experience supporting students with Autism and Extensive Support Needs preferred
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, classroom management, and collaborative team practices
