Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of paving materials, equipment (pavers, rollers, etc.), and techniques
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, grades, and paving specs
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of managing productivity, quality, and safety in the field
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
  • Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area

Responsibilities

  • The Paving Foreman is responsible for supervising daily job site operations, ensuring crew productivity, maintaining high-quality workmanship, and enforcing safety standards
  • This role plays a key part in delivering jobs on time, on budget, and to client specifications
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the paving crew
  • Read and interpret project plans, grades, and specifications
  • Plan daily tasks and allocate resources, equipment, and manpower accordingly
  • Monitor and adjust paving operations to ensure proper compaction, thickness, and smoothness
  • Ensure crew members follow safety policies, wear proper PPE, and comply with all site protocols
  • Complete detailed daily reports using construction management software, including tracking work performed, materials used, and labor hours for all employees
  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with job specs
  • Work closely with the Superintendent or Project Manager to address schedule changes and site issues
