What You’ll Do
Clinical Leadership 🩺 • Provide strategic and operational oversight of the Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology program • Recruit, mentor, and support attending physicians and clinical team members • Collaborate closely with GI surgery, radiation oncology, gastroenterology, and multidisciplinary partners • Develop clinical pathways to enhance quality, consistency, and patient experience across care settings • Strengthen program growth across colorectal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and upper GI malignancies
Research & Innovation 🔬 • Define and advance the clinical and scientific vision for GI oncology • Expand clinical trial access and increase patient accrual • Grow translational research collaborations between laboratory and clinical teams • Partner with investigators across Roswell Park and external institutions • Elevate the national visibility of the GI oncology program
Education & Mentorship 🎓 • Teach and mentor fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, and faculty • Foster academic growth and leadership development within the division
Institutional Leadership 🤝 • Serve on departmental and institutional committees • Participate in cross-disciplinary initiatives and translational research groups • Support strategic growth of GI oncology services across the organization

Responsibilities

Requirements
• MD or MD/PhD with significant expertise in Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology
• Eligibility for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level
• Experience leading clinical and academic programs
• Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care
• Passion for mentorship, education, and team development
• Interest in expanding clinical trials and translational research
• License to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York or License to practice as a dentist in the State of New York as required for the area of expertise.
• Possession of a valid medical specialty certificate in area of expertise
• Medical Doctor degree or Doctor of Dental Science degree as required for the area of expertise, and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the area of expertise including six (6) months in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity.
