Delivers a high standard of customer service in the clerical and clinical areas to promote patient experience. As clinical skills develop throughout a medical assistant educational program the MA Trainee will assist in providing care under the direction of an RN, LPN, MA, or provider.Job DutiesGathers information necessary for accurate registration and check-in/out.Obtains and verifies insurance authorizations/pre-certifications, completes medical record release requests and schedules/confirms patient appointments.Maintains knowledge of changes to insurance providers regarding coverage and reimbursement.Performs scanning, billing, filing, referrals, work queues, and other clerical functions in a timely manner.Performs appropriate patient outreach which may include telephone and EMR messaging.Adheres to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows.Prepares patient and equipment for exams/procedures and maintains exam rooms and clinical area.Performs patient rooming using patient centered care concepts in delivering care.Meets the educational requirements of the MA program enrolled in.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GEDAbility to adapt to changing prioritiesAbility to take initiative and function independently as well as collaborativelyAbility to maintain accuracy and compliance with detail-oriented responsibilitiesAbility to maintain strict confidentialityAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 DaysPhysical DemandsLift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.Job Description Disclaimer: This position description provides the major duties/responsibilities, requirements and working conditions for the position.
