Job Summary
The Clinical Research Investigator will be instrumental in securing funding and conducting innovative research projects under the guidance of our Research Program Directors. This role involves supervising research assistants and collaborating with grants administration staff to ensure compliance with regulations and institutional standards. The investigator will contribute to shaping the strategic direction of the research program, making significant contributions to the recovery and quality of life for individuals with disabilities, and enhancing TIRR's standing as a national leader in clinical care, research, training, and technical assistance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Doctoral degree or Medical degree, required.
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
• Minimum three (3) years of experience as an investigator.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Proven experience in leading research projects.
• Familiarity with funding mechanisms and sources.
• Proficiency in leading a project team and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Strong and/or developing professional reputation in relevant research areas.
• Demonstrated success in applying for and receiving federal research funding is highly desirable.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Prepare and submit compelling grant applications to secure funding for research initiatives.
• Manage research assistants effectively to ensure project completion.
• Publish research findings in reputable scholarly journals.
• Contribute to the strategic planning for TIRR research initiatives.
• Build collaborative partnerships within the Texas Medical Center and with external institutions.
• Adhere to TIRR Research Administration Policies and Procedures and follow all relevant policies.
• Enhance TIRR’s reputation for excellence in patient care, rehabilitation research, training, and technical assistance.
• Comply with federal regulations and guidelines related to human subjects protection.
• Involve non-program staff in relevant activities where suitable.
• Stay updated with communications from Memorial Hermann.
• Provide excellent customer service to all program participants and stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with federal research practices and regulations.
• Prioritize the safety of program participants and team members.
• Fulfill mandatory continuing education requirements.
• Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to all policies and standards.
• Enhance personal and professional growth by meeting educational requirements and supporting departmental goals.
• Demonstrate commitment to compassionate care for every community member.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
