Job Description

 15 hour shift rate of $277.50 ($18.50/hour) and Night Shift (10p to 7a) at a 9 hour shift rate of $166.50 ($18.50/hour). Please note that this job is considered shift work and is not typically eligible for overtime pay.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
This is a seasonal position with work opportunities from April to October. Based on the applicant's availability and Camp's needs, applicants may work day shifts, night shifts, both, or another schedule as agreed upon. The Camp Medical Professional is responsible for the health of all student campers and staff at Camp Colton, provides routine and emergency medical care within the parameters of certification, and is the authorized designee responsible for the administration of daily medications or completion of other medical routines. Our Medical Professionals also support the overall functionality of Camp, and work toward a positive and quality outdoor experience for campers, other Camp staff, partnering teachers, and visitors. A Medical Professional that can be present 24 hours and based at Camp is preferred. Nights at Camp typically involve plenty of free sleeping hours, though any Medical Professional on site, and other key staff, are on call.

TYPICAL TASKS:

• As a core member of the Camp Colton team, ensures a positive, enjoyable, and safe experience for student Campers, staff, and visitors. Participates in and supports general Camp activities as medical duties allow.
• Provides medical attention to students and staff within the parameters of certification (RN, PM, EMT) and in accordance with FUSD’s medical protocol.
• Orients Camp staff to medical protocol/procedure, informs staff of pertinent student-related health issues, and provides staff with medical supplies (first aid kits, emergency contact lists, emergency response medications, etc.) for field-based programs.
• Manages and ensures the functionality and cleanliness of the Camp’s medical office, supplies, and equipment. Informs the Camp Director of maintenance issues.
• Inventories medical supplies and makes resupply requests to the Camp Director.
• Reviews and maintains medical office paperwork and student medical forms.
• Ensures the proper storage and administration of medications per student medical forms.
• Documents all medical activities and delivers weekly documentation to the Camp admin team.
• Provides triage duties and supports the Camp’s risk management plan and protocol.
• Assists the Camp Director with ensuring overall Camp safety and provides leadership and support to staff and students.
• Supervises and provides childcare to students within the scope of providing medical services and/or general program support.
• Performs miscellaneous camp duties, maintenance, and team projects as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned and in all weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Specific training or job experience required before appointment
• Active license: RN, PM, EMT, or equivalent
• Fingerprint clearance card (IVP card) (can be obtained when hired)
• Prior Camp or field-based medical experience preferred
• Enjoys working in an outdoor setting and with children

Benefits

  • Compensation: Though the hours can be flexible and discussed, standard shifts & pay include RN Day Shift (7a to 10p) at a 15 hour shift rate of $447 ($29.80/hour) and Night Shift (10p to 7a) at a 9 hour shift rate of $180 ($20/hour)
