Job Overview

This job supports active energetic man with Autism/ID who lives in his own home with 24/7 support. After training and getting to know him and his support team, you will be managing the schedules of approximately 10 staff and keeping track of protocols and job descriptions on a MacBook Pro.

Will work a total of 35 hours/weekly. Candidate should plan to do this as their primary job, we are seeking someone looking to commit for a very long time.

We are seeking an easy-breezy personality, who is a talented caregiver adept at supporting similar clients with Autism, ID & some behavior challenges. Great organizational & people skills, good computer skills using WORD docs, and experience managing scheduling on a Google Calendar is a plus.

Once you’ve gotten to know him & his staff, you will learn our scheduling system & methods for ensuring staff is “in the know.” Number 1 priority is keeping him safe and on his schedule, by ensuring that shifts are covered, and when someone calls out, locating a replacement staff. You will manage the flow of information to/from parents & staff on a daily basis (shift logs, incident reports, medication logs, protocol updates, etc.).

To start this position, you will work frequently observing shifts with this active energetic client and then working directly with him until you’ve learned what needs to transpire during all shifts. Once this training process is complete you will spend less than 20% of your time as a Caregiver, and about 80% as a Team Coordinator. Guestimate 60 day training period.

Responsibilities
• After training period, will continue to be a dedicated caregiver approximately 20% of the time. Will become adept with supporting him, according to his Behavior Plan, Protocols & the varied duties prescribed on all shifts.
• Once up to speed, you will become main contact person for staff.
• Once up to speed, 80% of the time you will be coordinating schedules, monitoring client & staff needs, keeping a happy person-centered home running smoothly and updating staff materials.
• Along with his parents, provide basic orientation to all new hires.
• Along with his parents, will develop NEW EMPLOYEE MANUAL
• Consistently update all GUIDELINES for SHIFTS & PROCEDURES
• Schedule training & providing guidance to new staff.
• Participate in staff meetings with BCBA about 4X annually.
• Keeping a relaxed, casual vibe for staff & client in hot & community at all times.

Qualifications
• Direct experience supporting individual with Autism/ID, with a Behavior Plan is essential.
• Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, especially with medications (times, dosage, seeing that he swallows before turning away, keeping medicine cabinet locked at all times).
• Strongly prefer experience using Google Calendar, Google Drive & WORD.
• Must enjoy working collaboratively with parents & staff to ensure best practices.
• Must enjoy training others and being an integral part of the Caregiver team.
• Must provide client with your unconditional positive regard at all times.
• Must pass a State background checks as required by San Diego Regional Center.
