Job Description

The Associate Marriage and Family Therapist will work with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and individuals with developmental disabilities or chronic conditions. The Associate Marriage and Family Therapist will be expected to develop a strong understanding of medical documentation and HIPAA compliance to ensure accurate record-keeping and effective case management.

Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough client assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-10 coding systems.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and client needs.
• Provide evidence-based therapies such as, but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, child play therapy, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
• Facilitate individual, group, family, and crisis intervention sessions tailored to diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and clients with autism or developmental disabilities.
• Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
• Document all clinical encounters accurately in progress notes while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate client care and case management efforts.
• Engage in clinical research activities when applicable to improve treatment outcomes.
• Utilize telehealth platforms for remote client care when necessary.
• Stay current with medical terminology updates and ICD coding practices to ensure proper documentation.

Requirements
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as required by state regulations.
• Associate Registration with California BBS (AMFT)
• Willingness to work with children, adolescents, adults including those with mental health challenges or developmental disabilities.
• Familiar with crisis intervention techniques and behavior management strategies.
• Familiarity with medical documentation standards including CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-10).
• Willingness to adapt to virtual platforms for client engagement when necessary.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to client privacy and data security.

Qualifications
