Speech and Language Pathology Assistant

nsed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLP-A assists in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve students' communication skills, including articulation, language development, social communication, and functional communication abilities. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP-A) supports the delivery of speech and language services to students under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLP-A assists in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve students' communication skills, including articulation, language development, social communication, and functional communication abilities.
• Working collaboratively with educators and related service providers, the SLP-A provides structured therapy support, prepares instructional materials, collects data on student progress, and helps promote communication skills across educational settings. The SLP.
• A performs duties in accordance with district procedures, state regulations, and professional standards under the supervision of the licensed SLP.
• Implements speech and language therapy activities and intervention plans developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Provides individual and small-group speech-language support sessions as directed by the supervising SLP.
• Reinforces communication goals targeting articulation, expressive and receptive language, pragmatic language, and social communication skills.
• Assists students in developing functional communication skills across classroom and school environments.
• Prepares therapy materials, visual supports, augmentative communication systems, and instructional resources as directed.
• Collects and records objective data on student performance and progress toward IEP goals.
• Assists the supervising SLP with documentation, organization of materials, and therapy preparation.
• Supports carryover of communication strategies within general education and specialized classroom settings.
• Collaborates with teachers, instructional assistants, and related service providers to support student communication needs.
• Participates in team meetings, professional development, and training as appropriate.
• Maintains confidentiality and complies with all district policies, FERPA regulations, and professional ethical standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned consistent with the role of an SLP-A. REQUIREMENTS:
• Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certification or eligibility consistent with Massachusetts requirements preferred.
• Knowledge of IDEA regulations and special education procedures related to speech and language services
• Experience implementing speech and language therapy activities under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
• Familiarity with the IEP and 504 processes and the role of related service providers within these systems
• Knowledge of speech and language intervention strategies and instructional supports for students with communication needs
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all FERPA and district guidelines regarding student information
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, administrators, and families
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and support staff to reinforce communication strategies within the general education classroom
