Job Description
Position Summary
The Behavior Specialist works under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA/LBA) to support the implementation, monitoring, and coordination of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. This position assists with treatment development, treatment implementation, staff support, caregiver collaboration, data review, and clinical operations while ensuring compliance with ethical, regulatory, and payer requirements. The Behavior Specialist does not independently develop or modify treatment plans and functions within the scope delegated by the supervising BCBA. This position does require the Behavior Specialist to be able complete task independently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist the supervising BCBA with developing/implementing individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans.
· Provide direct clinical support and model evidence-based ABA procedures.
· Conduct direct observations and collect objective behavioral data.
· Review session documentation for completeness and compliance.
· Assist with quality assurance and treatment integrity monitoring.
· Support treatment plan updates, progress summaries, assessments, and documentation.
· Assist with training and mentoring Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
· Monitor treatment fidelity and communicate concerns to the BCBA.
· Participate in caregiver training under BCBA supervision.
· Maintain HIPAA, BACB Ethics Code, state, and payer compliance.
· Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
· Perform other duties assigned by the supervising BCBA.
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Psychology, ABA, Education, Social Work, Human Development, or a related field.
· At least one year of experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities.
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
· Proficiency with electronic documentation and Microsoft Office.
Preferred
· Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential.
· Experience implementing ABA treatment plans.
· Experience with behavioral data collection.
Certification Requirement
Applicants who are not currently credentialed as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) must be willing to obtain and maintain RBT certification within 30 days of employment. Stepping Stones ABA, LLC will provide supervision and support throughout the certification process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of ABA principles and procedures.
· Ability to implement behavior intervention and skill acquisition programs with fidelity.
· Ability to analyze behavioral data and identify treatment trends for BCBA review.
· Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to comply with HIPAA requirements.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely respond to behavioral crises using approved procedures.
Work Environment
Services are provided in clinic, but is not limited to home, school, and community settings. The Behavior Specialist must maintain professionalism while supporting clients with challenging behaviors.
