Qualifications

  • An established as co-author or senior author of proposals, journal articles and technical reports
  • High level of knowledge in scientific research processes, procedures, and objectives
  • Possess ability to implement experiments in the subject discipline with the ability to trouble shoot issues
  • Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline required
  • Possesses ability to run complex pieces of equipment requiring advanced specialized training
  • Possess knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis
  • Significant experience in analyzing and evaluating data
  • General level of knowledge of project management, decision-making, and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team
  • Sanford Research is a multi-site institution and occasional local travel between sites may be required
  • Requires a doctorate degree in a clinical, health, or life science field
  • Minimum of three years post-doctoral experience in related subject field of study
  • Competitive publication record for rank and discipline

Responsibilities

  • This position will be responsible for supporting faculty and scientists’ biostatistical needs in clinical research, as well as providing didactic instruction and student mentoring through the university
  • Qualified candidates will have a strong background in biostatistics, including methodology and design, hypothesis testing, bioanalytic approaches, and power analyses
  • Preferred candidates will have experience with clinical research, NIH grant writing, large data sets and teaching and mentoring
  • Assistant Scientist plans, coordinates, implements and conducts independent scientific research
  • Research would include but is not limited to complex laboratory testing, experiments and analysis following established protocols
  • Analyzes and evaluates findings
  • Organizes and conceptualizes ideas leading to proposals
  • Writes technical summaries and publications
  • Prepares and makes formal presentations of research results
  • Considered the principal investigator on grants
