Practice Info
• Vacancy locations are at the main campus of each healthcare network, with additional vacancies available at surrounding community based outpatient clinics (CBOC)
• The VHA's Primary Care initiative employs the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model
• Smaller panel sizes
• Wide array of support services and virtual care options
• Team aims to empower and equip patients to take charge of their health and well-being by offering complimentary and integrative health care approaches
Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting
• Work collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting and embracing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care
• Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and initiate appropriate response to emergency health problems
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral
• Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services
• Initiate, evaluate, and change orders for medications
• Follow Performance Measure guidelines, including completion of clinical reminders access and timeliness standards prescription order entry, National VA formulary Requirements, and customer service standards
• Assist with arranging continuity of care across the VHA system as needed
Compensation
• Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the EDRP - a student loan payment reimbursement program
• Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application
• Competitive salary
• Annual performance bonus
• Regular salary increases
• Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement for CME (must be full-time with board certification)

Requirements
• United States Citizenship
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a VA-approved school
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
• Completion of residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Applicants must meet physical standards for the position
• Physical examination prior to placement is required
• This is a designated drug testing position
