• Through Extended School Year (ESY)

Schedule:
• Full-time
• Elementary hours: 8:30 AM 3:30 PM

• Pre-K1st grade Autism program
• Self-contained classroom setting

Position Overview:

A district in the New Brunswick, NJ area is seeking two Special Education Teachers for a high-needs, self-contained Autism classroom. This program serves nonverbal students and focuses on building functional communication, behavior skills, and independence in a highly supported environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained Autism classroom
• Support approximately 68 Pre-K1st grade students per classroom
• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Focus on functional communication and behavior development
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers (BCBA, OT, PT, etc.)
• Maintain structured classroom routines and data collection

Requirements:
• Active New Jersey Special Education certification (TOSD required)
• PreK3 certification (MANDATORY K6 certification not accepted)
• Autism experience required

Additional Details:
• Each classroom includes approximately 6 students and 2 paraprofessionals
• Part of a larger program with multiple similar classrooms and full clinical support team
• No district-provided one-on-one supervision roles (para/RBT/CNA/LPN not applicable)
• Strong emphasis on functional behavior and communication development
• Candidates must clearly align with high-needs Autism classroom expectations
