For Team members in the Hospital Emergency Department, the Paramedic will provide direct patient care and supportive services to department, nursing and health care provider team under registered nurse supervision. Responsibilities include: bedside patient care, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, routine housekeeping duties as needed, transportation of patients/residents as necessary, basic computer skills for documentation of care & procedures performed and for training and education needs.
Measures and records blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature and informs the RN/nurse supervisor/charge nurse if not within normal limits for the patient. Performs blood glucose monitoring. Ability to use computer and basic clerical skills is a must. Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate or as directed by the leader/manager.
Must meet education and training requirements of department. Completes training/competency in specialty skills/procedures for department population as designated.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be a graduate of an accredited Paramedic program. Must exhibit critical thinking skills and ability to multi-task.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active Paramedic licensure/certification in appropriate state.
AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS NRP required dependent upon area.
Work Requirements:
Shift: Night
On Call: No
Weekends: Rotating
Travel Required: No Travel
