Responsibilities include labor management of low-risk deliveries at our Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, coverage of inpatient obstetrics & gynecology services at Stony Brook University Hospital, and education of medical students and residents. The Department encompasses faculty in each of the recognized specialties, an accredited Residency program, an accredited Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery, as well as a Fellowship for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Stony Brook University Hospital is the tertiary care center for Suffolk County, the Regional Trauma Center, and the Regional Perinatal Center, with over 4200 deliveries per year. It is a 603-bed hospital that is in the process of a $500 million expansion, with a new Children's Hospital and a 500,000-square-foot clinical and research space.
Stony Brook Southampton Hospital serves a diverse population in the heart of Long Island's east end. The hospital has access to all specialties, does 900 deliveries a year with a level 2 NICU, and is closely integrated with Stony Brook University Hospital.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
• Provides health care to patients including diagnosis and treatment as team leader.
• Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, and makes diagnosis, and orders appropriate, standard laboratory and diagnostic procedures as necessary.
• Evaluates procedure results. Provides preventative as well as acute care.
• Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patients' plan of care.
• Provides patient education about underlying medical condition, self-management of acute or chronic illnesses and tailors instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding therapeutic regimens, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
• Prescribes medications.
• Documents exam and progress notes in the Electronic Medical Record. Provides referral letters as needed.
• Collects, monitors and reports on patient outcomes.
• Share night and weekend call coverage with other Physicians.
• Ensure HIPAA guidelines are followed at all times.
• Responsible for the conduct and care given by other clinical office staff including nurses, medical assistants and technologists. The physician is the head of the clinical team.
• Responsible for conduct and patient interaction of shadowing medical students, physician extenders and nursing interns.
• Responsible for meeting quality benchmarks established by Population Health, Payors, NYS DOH or Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services.
• Follows established evidence based practices and assures good quality patient care.
SALARY RANGE:
• $200,000-$300,000 annually

Position Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• MD or DO Graduate.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology Medicine
• NYS Licensure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Post graduate experience in a group practice or group setting.
• Experience in OB/GYN.
• Experience in GYN advanced laparoscopic surgery.
• Fluent in Spanish preferred.
