Essential Job Function:
• Remains current and competent in their field by reading literature and attending regional and national gatherings for education and training purposes.
• Takes part in programs focused on inpatient care, staff training, and professional development.
• Involves in academic and research activities such as educational resources, organized teaching seminars, practical teaching experiences in healthcare environments, educational sessions for staff members, and undertaking clinical research projects.
• Liaison: Plays a role in liaison responsibilities with colleagues and building networks for patient referrals.
• Ensures referring physicians are updated on patient treatment and results.
• In the realm of Patient Care, responsibilities include offering direct and indirect care within assigned regions.
• Offers medical oversight for the interdisciplinary team and directs residents and medical students in fulfilling their assigned tasks.
• Takes part in research projects within the clinical field that capture attention.
• Delivers accurate and punctual documentation and approval of healthcare services to maintain updated medical records for billing procedures.
• Adheres to the professional guidelines established by Cone Health, including but not limited to the Medical Staff By-Laws, commitments to Service Excellence, practice standards, physician requirements, and maintaining a professional image.
• Works jointly in alignment with Cone Health's mission, vision, and values.
• Displays friendly and professional interactions with peers, clients, coworkers, family members, and visitors.
• Adheres to the principles of the Socratic Oath, ensures confidentiality of patients, and displays ethical behavior continually.
• Functions in coordination to support the targets and criteria established by Cone Health.
• Quality and Safety: Takes part in medical audits, quality enhancement endeavors, investigations, peer assessments, and other reviews related to the standards of professional care as necessary.
• Supervises and leads the healthcare team to ensure that each patient receives the best possible care.
• Maintains a commitment to uphold safety standards and comply with regulations.
• Continuous Enhancement: Actively pursues improvements and integrates evidence-backed methods to advance healthcare and services, with the goal of achieving outcomes ranking in the top 10% or beyond.
• Follow Cone Health's policies and comply with all applicable laws and regulations when documenting information.
• Takes part in formulating clinical standards, protocols, initiatives, and offers suggestions to enhance the caliber and productivity of healthcare services.
• Divides specified on-call duties with fellow physicians in the assigned areas.
Education
• Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
• Also, medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
Experience
• Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).
Licensure/Certification/Listing
• Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges.
• If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).
• Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC.
• Meets requirements of the Cone Health Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges. The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
• Cone Health shall obtain and maintain in force professional liability insurance through commercial coverage or a program of self-insurance insuring MCAP and Physician for professional errors, omissions, negligence, incompetence, and malfeasance.
