Qualifications
- •We’re seeking certified ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE GRADES, or SECONDARY EDUCATION TEACHERS to design engaging lessons
- •Deliver total instructional programs in various academic subjects and learning skills to adults who have not achieved a mandatory literacy and/or full academic achievement of K-12
- •Laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to the assignment
- •Current instructional methodologies and counseling techniques
- •Computers and software sufficient to perform daily tasks
- •Written and verbal communication
- •Time management
- •Organization and prioritizing
- •Typing
- •Teaching and facilitation
- •Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
- •Work in a prison environment
- •Work cooperatively with other education staff
- •Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- •A current, valid Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Teaching Certificate in the approved area of Elementary or Secondary
- •Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Card
- •Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, a drug test, and possibly a medical/physical examination
- •Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
- •The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended
- •Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training
- •An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11)

Responsibilities
- •Complete weekly reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- •Collaborate with fellow educators and create a supportive, structured classroom where learning leads to opportunity
- •Make a real difference utilizing your Arizona Teaching Certification and passion for education by joining the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) as an Educational Teacher
- •Teaches all subjects to students who have not completed full academic achievement, potentially through K-12
- •Appropriately implements teacher-designed lesson plans and exhibits collaboration between classroom and Special Education teachers for the benefit of students
- •Accesses students' progress and develops an appropriate education plan
- •Develops and corrects diagnostic tests, maintains educational records, and provides the unit with monthly work evaluations
- •Maintains records of student performance and uses them to guide instructional decisions
- •Maintains the security of all testing instruments
- •Consults with highly qualified teachers on subject matter concerns or questions
- •Teaches various subjects and includes learning experiences appropriate for curriculum goals that are based on principles of effective instruction
- •Creates and maintains a positive learning environment using effective classroom management techniques
- •Escorts and supervises inmates in the education building/classroom
- •Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
- •Collaborates with colleagues to achieve Department and Education Bureau goals
- •Engages in professional development and maintains required certifications
- •Continually adapts to improve instruction and student learning
- •Attends required training sessions and meetings
- •Drives on State business
- •Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
- •Appropriate testing procedures and interpretation of specific tests
- •Work day and/or evening shifts at any unit teaching post
- •Provide academic instruction and counseling to inmates
- •Learn and adhere to laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
