Job Description
**Overview:**
The Elementary Tier II Autism Inclusion Teacher will provide instruction and support to students with Autism in a Tier II classroom setting. The teacher will work with students in grades K-5, providing academic and behavioral support to help them succeed in their educational programs. **Responsibilities:**
• Provide instruction to students with Autism using direct instruction materials and other appropriate intervention techniques
• Prepare instructional materials for K-5 students
• Participate in staff in-service training, meetings, activities, and Make Your Day behavior model
• Maintain records as necessary for efficient procedures and evaluation
• Assist in supervision and control of students to promote a safe, orderly, positive learning climate
• Accomplish all tasks in a professional manner, modeling appropriate and healthy adult behavior
• Use Make Your Day and trauma-informed practices when necessary
• Strive to be student trauma (ACES) informed
• Create schedules for students K-5 to be in Tier II classroom and provide necessary support when students are in gen. ed. classrooms
• Work with teachers who will have the Tier II students in their classroom
• Provide training and support for paraeducators to ensure students are learning academics while teaching behavioral/social skills
• Observe students in the classroom setting to look for triggers, opportunities to self-regulate, etc. * Willing to do home visits
• Interact with people and speak in a manner that reflects community standards of politeness, civility, and human sensitivity
• *Qualifications:**
• Valid Washington State teacher's certificate with endorsement in Special Education
• Endorsement in Special Education
• Satisfactory evaluations
• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
• Previous experience working in a multicultural setting (preferred)
• Experience and/or training with computer technology and ability to assist students with computer operations (preferred)
• Ability to de-escalate students when necessary
• Evidence of ability to be a self-starter and proactive
• Punctual and consistent attendance
