Overview

Reports To: Building Principal/Special Education Supervisor

Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday

Salary: $30,899.00 starting annual salary
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a minimum of 48 semester hours of secondary education or have passed the PRAXIS PARAPRO exam
• One or two years related experience working with students with disabilities is preferred
• Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act"
• Ability to meet the requirements and apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
• Ability to work effectively with students, this may include students who display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively
• Organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
• Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
• Knowledge and ability to apply behavior management techniques in enforcing school discipline in an appropriate context
• Must possess the physical strength and ability required to lift, assist restrain, or pursue handicapped students
• Clerical skills; including knowledge of office machines
• Previous experience working with computers preferred
• Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
