Responsibilities

The USA Health Department of Family Medicine in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a full time, board- certified Family Medicine faculty member interested in a unique medical student education opportunity at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the Medical Student Education in the department. The director will lead medical student education initiatives within the department to include the family medicine 3rd year clerkship, a longitudinal Primary Care Pathway, and a Post-Baccalaureate program in collaboration with the College of Allied Health.

Responsibilities:

• Provides mentorship for community faculty at clinical sites as well as departmental faculty engaged in medical student education.
• Prepares and delivers faculty development content for family medicine preceptors as departmental faculty engaged in medical student education
• Participates in evaluations and assessments of educational content of the community-based sites.
• Mentors medical students with an interest in a primary care career.
• Collaborates with Population Health Interest Group and Family Medicine Interest Group.
• Planning and overseeing of the educational experience, curriculum content, student assessment, and program evaluation in the Family Medicine clerkship, the Primary Care Pathway, and assists with the development of the post baccalaureate experience.
• Maintains a working relationship with the Office of Medical Education to include in maintaining and adjusting the educational structure, learning objectives, required clinical experiences, didactic curriculum, and assessments when appropriate that meet the goals of the clerkship experience and the overall medical education program.
