Description
American Traveler is hiring a Special Education Teacher (Mod/Severe) for an SLS/Autism Center-Based program serving K-5 students with ASD, requiring at least 1 year of experience working with children on the autism spectrum.
Details
• School-based setting in an SLS/Autism Center-Based program
• Serves K-5 students with autism or ASD-related needs, including non-verbal students
• Caseload of approximately 10 students
• Responsible for managing and training 5-6 paraprofessionals in the classroom
• Utilizes AAC devices and visual supports
• Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (5x8-hour shifts)
• Full-time at 40 hours per week

Requirements
• Active state teaching license (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with children with ASD
• SLS (Specialized Language Services) program experience required
• Experience in special education teaching and writing IEPs required
• Experience working with non-verbal students strongly preferred
• Experience managing paraprofessionals or support staff preferred
Additional Information
• Responsible for writing and implementing IEPs for students with moderate to severe disabilities
• Must complete CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training within the first 90 days of the assignment
• Candidates with strong ASD experience and experience managing adult support staff are strongly preferred
