in Odessa, Texas. This is a permanent, full-time position dedicated to providing exemplary emergency care within a dynamic, Level 2 trauma center. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering quality patient outcomes in a collaborative environment while enjoying opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive emergency medical coverage across all age groups, managing a high-volume, fast-paced emergency department.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, establish diagnoses, and implement appropriate treatment plans efficiently.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including trauma surgeons, hospitalists, pediatric hospitalists, specialists, and ancillary staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
• Utilize Cerner FirstNet EMR with Dragon dictation, leveraging efficient order sets and streamlined charting processes to optimize workflow.
• Participate in patient stabilization, minor procedures, and critical interventions as required.
• Assist in the management of trauma cases, including admissions for operative pelvic fractures, burns, strokes requiring thrombectomy, and pediatric ICU admissions.
• Support mental health evaluations, with protocols in place for admissions when psychiatric facilities are at capacity.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
• Board Certification or Eligibility in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or equivalent.
• Open to summer 2025 graduates with appropriate training.
• Prior experience in a Level 2 trauma setting preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork ethic.
• Ability to work 10-hour shifts, averaging approximately 2.0-2.2 patients per hour.
• Comfortable working with electronic health records, including Cerner FirstNet EMR system.
• Valid Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
