All midwifery staff are faculty appointed in the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and are expected to contribute to clinical education and demonstrate a commitment to academic work. The midwives in the Midwifery Division attend approximately 650 births per year and conduct over 11,000 outpatient visits across two outpatient sites. This position offers a myriad of opportunities to enhance practice through education including participation in research. In addition, the Division provides attending faculty coverage of the low-risk birth unit working alongside first year obstetrics and gynecology residents teaching normal labor and birth. Outpatient services include providing prenatal care (including CenteringPregnancy), well-woman primary and gynecologic care, family planning services, as well as opportunities to work within the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine helping to care for high-risk women.
