Job Description
(CST) provides direct patient care and supports the medical team in delivering efficient, high-quality care for pre- and post-operative patients. This role involves assisting with patient preparation, basic care tasks, and maintaining a clean, safe environment within the ASC. The CST plays a vital role in patient safety and comfort, working closely with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to support a smooth surgical experience. The role requires a mix of hands-on patient care, technical skills, and teamwork in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Patient Preparation and Care: Assist patients with pre-surgical preparations, such as performing intravenous (IV) line insertions, changing into surgical gowns, taking vital signs, and providing comfort measures. Aid in patient positioning and help monitor patient status under the direction of clinical staff
• Post-Operative Assistance: Support patients as they recover from anesthesia by assisting with mobility and ensuring comfort. Provide personal care assistance, including toileting, hydration, dressing and discontinuing intravenous (IV) lines as needed. Safely transport patients via wheelchair to their vehicle upon discharge
• Room Turnover and Cleanliness: Ensure patient areas and equipment are cleaned and disinfected between cases, supporting infection control and a sterile environment
• Communication and Documentation: Communicate patient needs to nurse and other medical staff and document care activities and observations accurately
• Supply and Equipment Management: Restock supplies, prepare rooms for new cases, and ensure equipment is ready and available to maintain efficient patient care operations
Qualifications:
• Minimum of one year of progressive experience as a Clinical Technician; experience in an acute-care facility or ambulatory surgery center is preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
• Strong interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care
• Previous work experience in an acute-care facility or ambulatory surgery center preferred
