Summary:
Performs duties related to clinical research projects, including investigator initiated, cooperative group, pharmaceutical and device trials. Conducts clinical research studies with investigators while maintaining the highest standards of data security and human subject’s protection through the adherence to departmental and Summa policies and procedures (including FDA, OHRP, and HIPAA regulations). Maintains research study compliance, completes case report forms, and provides nursing care.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
b. Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
c. Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
2. Experience & Training Required:
a. At least 2 years of recent professional nursing experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
b. Two (2) years clinical research experience preferred
c. Clinical Research Coordinator Certification (CCRC or equivalent) preferred.
d. Ability to work effectively with a computer and be familiar with Microsoft Office products such as WORD and Excel.
e. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
b. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
c. Ability to work well within a team environment and also autonomously supporting team goals and encouraging fellow team members
d. Time management skills are necessary to work concurrently on a number of different projects
e. Attention to detail and an ability to use critical thinking to assess any clinical condition that is applicable to the study being conducted is essential to the protection of human subject research participants.
f. Ability to travel out of state (less than 10% of the time).
g. Ability and willingness to acquire research knowledge and training in this position in order to obtain Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) certification through SOCRA/ACRP.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
b. Frequent walking and/or standing.
c. Able to perform BLS requirements
d. Able to have full range of motion of upper extremities

Responsibilities
- •Full-time / 40 hours per week / located at Akron City campus
- •Taking care of patients while they are in an oncology clinical trial
- •Performs duties related to clinical research projects, including investigator initiated, cooperative group, pharmaceutical and device trials
- •Conducts clinical research studies with investigators while maintaining the highest standards of data security and human subject’s protection through the adherence to departmental and Summa policies and procedures (including FDA, OHRP, and HIPAA regulations)
