Effort: Part-time (0.5 FTE), exempt, Salary $50-80,000/Yr. DOE

Goals and Objectives: The College of Medicine has an opening for an Assistant/Associate/ Professor faculty member, a renewable non-tenured position, responsible for the medical education in pre-doctoral translational educational programs. CNUCOM has developed an innovative medical education program with vertical and horizontal integration. You will be joining a team of highly committed faculty responsible for the development, design, and implementation of all components of the medical education program using Course Learning Objectives and College of Medicine adopted Program Learning Objectives. To ensure faculty success, professional development opportunities are available in pedagogy through the Institute of Teaching & Learning and scholarly research.
The responsibilities for this position will include all of the following: serving the academic mission of the Department in teaching medical students, performing scholarly activities, and providing institutional service. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to perform data-driven enhancements of the integrated medical curriculum.
Responsibilities:
· Support the development and implementation of curriculum topics for an integrated medical program
· Directly facilitate, guide, and support student scholarship, including, but not limited to, research activities
· Provide support to student research projects for the mandatory SDSSP course
· Teach and mentor first and second-year medical students
· Support student remediation planning and activities
· Design/deliver outstanding student experience, attending to all curriculum matters, as well as maintaining a learning environment that promotes mutual respect and professional behavior on the part of faculty, staff and students
· Provide course schedules, syllabi, and information for the educational database, and submit student assessments/grades promptly
· Participating in scholarly activities and/or research
· Participate in faculty development programs
· Serve on departmental and institutional committees
· Collate student and faculty research activities, publications, grants, and other research activities relevant to demonstrate student & faculty research of the accreditation standards
Qualifications:
· Terminal degree (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD)
· Experience and documented accomplishments in mentoring/teaching medical students
· Experience in teaching in an integrated curriculum will be preferred
· Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment
· A history of exceptional scholarly, professional, and/or individual achievement
Qualities:
· Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
· Knowledge about design of adult learning and active learning educational experiences
· Commitment to professional excellence
Highlights:
California Northstate University College of Medicine (CNUCOM) is an allopathic medical education program approved by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The curriculum uses a horizontally- and vertically integrated interdisciplinary clinical presentation approach. Clinical presentations (patients’ chief complaints) are the framework for building basic and clinical science knowledge. The integrated curriculum introduces the students to basic and clinical sciences for the first two years. A community-based, clinical training model is deployed in the third and fourth years.
